Russia c.bank warns banks against foreign loans

Russia’s central bank called on banks on Thursday not to issue loans in foreign currency to non-exporters despite assurances the gradual devaluation of the rouble was over.

“I urge you not to pass your foreign currency risks on to your clients,” Sergei Shvetsov, head of the central bank’s financial markets operations department, told an investment forum in Moscow.

He also said he expected the regulator to start taking shares in repo operations at the end of February.
