KamAZ is the leader on the Russian truck market and No 11 among the major producers of heavy trucks in the world. The construction of the KamAZ Truck Production Plant began in 1969, while the first truck rolled off the assembly line in 1976.
Today, KamAZ Group consists of more than 130 companies. The key types of products that the group makes include trucks (GVW from 8 to 40 tonnes), trailers, buses, concrete mixer trucks and concrete pump trucks. The principal production facilities are located in Naberezhnye Chelny in Tatarstan.
One of the company’s key competitive advantages is a well-established sales and service network numbering more than 100 dealers and approximately 350 service centers throughout Russia, in the CIS and overseas. KamAZ is actively acquiring export markets: some 25% of its trucks are sold abroad.
In the last 10 years, KamAZ has boosted its sales volumes more than tenfold, having succeeded in making the most of the growing demand for trucks brought about by the investment boom in Russian and the CIS countries. Today, KamAZ occupies more than 30% of the heavy duty truck market in Russia, while in its key segments (dump trucks and specialty vehicles) KamAZ’ market shares reaches approximately 50%.
