The United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) was incorporated according to a decree signed by erstwhile Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 20, 2006. The corporation was incorporated on November 20, 2006. The UAC’s priorities include the design, manufacture, sale, maintenance, upgrade and utilization of civil and military aircraft.
The UAC was formed by consolidating the following companies: Sukhoi Aviation Holding Company, Irkut Corporation, Ilyushin Finance Corporation, Komsomolsk-on-Amur Aircraft Production Association, Ilyushin Aviation Complex, Sokol Nizhni Novgorod Aircraft Building Plant, Novosibirsk Aircraft Production Association, Tupolev, Finance Leasing Company, Aviastar-SP and Taganrogskaya Aviatsiya.
The UAC’s charter capital amounts to R110.3 bln; the Russian government holds a 91.3% stake in the corporation.
