Dr Jacques Sapir is professor of economics at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales in Paris and director of CEMI-EHESS, a research center dedicated to the study of former soviet-type economies and economic development topics. He has occupied various positions at the Ministry of Science and Research and in the TACIS program (in Ukraine and Russia). He has been associated professor at the Higher School of Economics (1993-2000) and now Moscow School of Economics (since 2005). Dr Sapir’s publications include several theoretical books and many works about Russia’s economy. He has received two French scientific awards, the Castex Prize in 1990 for a book in strategic affairs and in 2001 the Turgot Prize for the best book in finance.
