Alisher Usmanov
CEO, Gazprominvestholding

Alisher Usmanov has been CEO of Gazprominvestholding since 2000. Prior to that, he was Deputy CEO.
From November 2000 to July 2001, Mr Usmanov was and Advisor to Gazprom BoD Chairman.
Over 1990-94, he was Deputy CEO of Intercross, and from 1994-95, Advisor to the CEO of the Moscow Aviation Production Union. From then until 1998, he worked as General Director of Interfin, an interbank investment and finance company.

Mr Usmanov is co-owner of Metalloinvest and owns the Kommersant publishing house. He is on the Board of Trustees at the Bolshoi Theater, the BoD of Football Club Dynamo and Board of Trustees at MGIMO. He is also one of the founders of the Iskusstvo i Sport charity fund.
Among his previous activities, Mr Usmanov worked as a Research Fellow at the USSR Science Academy, Senior Administrative Assistant at TsK LKSM Uzbekistan, and General Director of the Export Association of the Soviet Committee of Global Defense.

Mr Usmanov is a graduate of MGIMO, where he studied International Law, and the Finance Academy under the Government of the Russian Federation, where he studied banking. He has a Master’s degree in Sociology.
